Dear colleagues,

On behalf of National Research Tomsk State University, we would like to invite you to the International Expert and Analytical Workshop Organizing Educational Process in Research University. The workshop will take place in Tomsk (Russia), February 18 – 20,  2015.

The topic of the seminar stems from the experience of Russian universities taking part in the project 5 TOP-100. The goal of the programme is to provide that by 2020  not fewer that five Russian universities will be in the first hundred of leading world universities QS World University Rankings. Within a short period these universities have to clear the barriers of internationalization, reach a whole new level of education and research relation, implement changes in interaction with external environment, and create a community for their personnel development. Tomsk State University determines its success with efficient formation of research university model.  We launch a series of expert analytical workshops On the way toward Research University: Conditions for Russian Universities’ Successful Transformation.  It is devoted to the issues of university transformation and research universities’ formation.

We see the series of workshops as an interactive platform where the best practices in education management, university transformation management can be discussed, expert ground can be worked out for evaluating the effectiveness and projecting changes in university. The representatives of Finland, the USA, the Republic of Belarus as well as the leading Russian universities will take part in the workshops. 

The aim of the first workshop is to study and to project the models of education process organization in the leading research universities.

Objectives of the workshop:

  • Present and analyze the peculiarities of education process organization in a research university. 
  • Work out the ground for identifying different types of educational programs for research universities. 
  • Define management conditions for creation and implementation of various educational programs in a research university.
  • Define productive mechanisms to involve stakeholders (employers, high and vocational education institutions) into creation and implementation of educational programs.

Scope of questions to be discussed:

Which educational programs allow a university to reach the level of being internationally competitive? What are the differences and benefits of various types of educational programs in a leading research university? What management conditions are required for enhancing university productive educational activity?  What does a university benefit from cooperation with the system of secondary education? How to organize training of specialists in teaching and research activity? What are the issues and experience of establishing partnership between universities and business for training and re-training professionals?

The workshop includes case-studies, round-table discussions, expert and analytical laboratories.

The conference organizers welcome the directors of strategic development programmes in research universities, researchers and experts in the field of education and development management, administrators of higher education institutions, representatives of regional professional education institutions, graduate and postgraduate students, those interested in the issues of change management in educational institutions.

The conference papers ill be published in a proceedings book.

The working languages of the conference are Russian and English.
