Student contest award
STUDENT CONTEST AWARD
The Language and Culture Conference Student Competition Committee is pleased to announce a student participation competition. The award encourages students to practice presentation skills as well as develop skills in writing an academic paper.
All presenting authors of accepted papers by students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages (of Master and PhD programs) will participate in the “Best Student’s Section Presentation” competition and “Best Student’s Academic Conference Paper”.
The students’ works will be judged by the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) and the best students will be selected for a 7-minute oral presentation within the section session. Each participant may submit only ONE paper for the contest.
Criteria for Selection
The final decisions will be taken by the evaluation panel members of the session and the Conference Chair. Evaluation panel will consist of personals with sound academic background for that particular subject area as well as the participants of the sessions. The marks will be given by the Evaluation panel according to the following criteria. The highest scoring presentations will be recommended for the following awards based on the evaluation committee’s and the Conference Chair’s rankings.
1. All student competitors are encouraged to register for the conference.
2. Entries will be judged based on content, organization, and quality of oral /written presentation.
3. First, second, and third place winners in each category (oral presentation / academic paper) will receive a certificate of a winner and a cash prize from the donation made by the invited speakers of the TOWOCOLP-3, namely, Prof. Mira Ariel (Tel Aviv University, Israel); Dr. Ivana Trbojević Milošević (University of Belgrade, Serbia) ; Dr Alison Hall (De Montfort University, Leicester, UK).
Nomination Categories
- THE OVERALL BEST PRESENTATION AWARD
This award will be provided for the most outstanding presentation. Undergraduates, Master students, and Ph.D. students will be considered under this category.
- SESSION’S BEST PRESENTATION AWARDS
There will be a number of sessions in the conference under different themes. These awards are provided to the presentations that have been selected to be the best in the particular session.
- THE BEST ACADEMIC PAPER AWARD
SELECTION PROCESS
CRITERIA FOR THE BEST ORAL PRESENTATION AWARDS
Each and every presentation is evaluated by two evaluators and the average mark of both evaluators is taken as the final mark. The best presentation from each session will be selected based on the final mark received from the evaluators and the final decision is given by the Conference Chair.
Below criteria are taken into consideration for this award and marks are given out of 100.

• Content of the presentation (35%)
• Clarity and flow of the Presentation (20%)
• Novelty /contribution to the field (25%)
• Design and Overall Visual Appeal (10%)
• Timing (10%)
CRITERIA FOR THE BEST ACADEMIC PAPER AWARD
• Significance of the paper to the field (10%)
• Depth of Content (30%)
• Introduction and Abstract (10%)
• Content knowledge and organization (20%)
• Relevance (10%)
• Originality (10%)
• Practical implications of the study / Practical significance (10%)
